Extend & Renovate House - Hughesdale Vic.

This was a run-down California Bungalow. The site had a big fall to the rear, with an old family room & deck extension which left the deck 2 metres above the garden. Sacrificing the existing deck & family room enabled us to create a split level solution. Half a stair down to the living areas which open directly onto the garden and a shaded patio outside the kitchen. and half up to the kid's rooms and games/study area. The original front part of the house became a quiet parent's retreat with dining room and office.

New House Palmers Island NSW

This is a new holiday house for a builder in the Clarence River Delta. The house is elevated to stay above the frequent floods and catch the cooling breezes from the north east. The main living area opens to north and south roofed decks to create a large indoor/outdoor living area. Many louvre windows and wide roof overhangs have been used to maximise natural cooling. The living room can be closed off to provide a warm nest in the brief cool times. The ground around the house is elevated to limit flood effects and vertigo. The house structure is local hardwood .

New House Raymond Island Vic.

This is a builder's own house for a Victorian and Edwardian specialist. The building is elevated to catch breezes and views on a site which is largely flat with existing native bush. The big covered verandahs to the north and south allow flow through breezes and are fully enclosed in flywire to allow an outdoors lifestyle in an area renowned for ferocious mosquitos.
